Vision, philosophy & purpose
What IRI stands for — and why its starting point is different from the dominant development playbook.
An international think tank, registered under Burkinabè law, building knowledge that fits the realities of the Global South.
The Impact Research Institute (IRI) is an international think tank — a private research-and-action institute established under Burkinabè law, with its headquarters in Dédougou, Burkina Faso.
It was founded by researchers and professionals from Africa, Europe, and Latin America, and is governed by a board whose members come from seven countries across three continents.
IRI exists to be a support for major social, economic, and environmental change — and to offer knowledge products that can influence multi-sector policy decisions in Burkina Faso and other developing countries.
